steam connections, manual valves or other hot fittings during sterilization. During the sterilization ensure that unauthorized personnel cannot manipulate the fermentor. You may isolate the hazardous area and place a suitable warning sign. Initiate the sterilization sequence by starting the sterilization program of the control unit. This provides that all automatic safety devices are switched as required. Except
for necessary manual operations during the sequence, as indicated, and for stopping the sequence no measure effecting the sterilization program is allowed. At the end of the sterilization sequence or if the sterilization must be interrupted, wait until the system reaches a safe state (i.e. the culture vessel and all fittings which are heated and pressurized during the sequence, must become pressureless
and be cooled down to ambient temperature) before performing further operations.
